4,5,6 year olds doing Algebra & Geometry & Reading 2-3 Grade Levels Above & Teenagers Learning Trades gets less Attention from Adults than a Pro Sports Game or Music Awards Night or Reality Show or Holidays where Adults can Barbeque & Play Music & have A Good Time.
While all that go on, children & teens are getting their confidence broken in classrooms, not understanding math word problems, not doing well in standardized tests, not able to relate their education to the real world, can’t explain math steps on the board in front of the class, not really understanding their homework, and many things that don’t have their parents full attention.
Children & Teens are exposed to material much earlier than previous generations. Many are getting very frustrated with school.
Without trades, even honor roll students will be at a disadvantage. Only reason I bring up honor roll students is because most people think they good to go with great grades. Without trade knowledge, they too are at a disadvantage.
Trades. What can you use your mind & hands to invent, create, build, manufacture & produce?
***—>>> Will your child/children–teens have trades when they graduate from high school?
Are you fine with them only having book knowledge knowledge?
Are you fine with them not having a trade or trades & not being able to use their minds & hands to create, invent, manufacture & produce?
Are you fine with them not being able to apply their education to the real world?
We should strive to be Fans of Youth Education.
Throw some youth think tank parties, tailgate & throw some barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs on the grill with drinks & play some good music.
Lets get excited in the barbershops & beauty salons & neighborhoods & homes & everywhere else about youth education & trades & black history & technology.
Bring the children. Have Multiplication Superbowls, Spelling Bee Superbowls, Reading, Math & Science Superbowls.
Lets have some fun…lets play, lets play Youth Educational Challenge Championships.
Most people, after High School are out on their own. A few people might win scholarships—either through sports or good grades.
These people are very few. People are pushed out into a hard, cold—heartless world—real fast.
For years, they have dreamed of being out own their own. Maybe not. They might have been scared to go out into the wide world.
No matter what they feel about life after High School—that is it.
They are considered grown. Yet, many times they are not even properly prepared to deal with the world mentally, spiritually, financially, skill wise, trade wise, technical wise, know how wise—or any other way.
How many grown people have spent time talking to the young people of the real world? How much true talk—no matter how startling it might be—has transpired between the old and the young?
Young people need to be taught skills, trades, crafts, and many other things. They should be talked to about job situations they might be in once they get out on their own. How will certain situations be handled at work? How will they deal with bosses that might be hard to get along with? What strategies will they use to get around obstacles at work?
Do the young people know how to make a resume? Do they know how to conduct themselves in an interview?
Reality talks from older people prepares the youth for adulthood.
Do your children know how to change from a decimal to percent or percent to decimal?
What about a decimal to a fraction or fraction to decimal?
Do they know the difference between a proper fraction, improper fraction or a mixed fraction?
Do they know decimal places? What lies on the left & right of a decimal? Do they know the left of a decimal represents whole/–& the right of a decimal represents part?
Do your children know signed numbers (Intro to Algebra)?
Do they know how many Degrees are in a Circle? What does half represent in a circle? What is the name of the line that runs straight through the center of a circle making 180 degrees on both sides? What is the name of that line?
Do they know another name for a Right Angle/how many Degrees does a Right angle represent?
Our children should be spitting the answers to these questions like they spit/recite whole rap songs, love songs, and any other songs they know from top to bottom, left and right, and every other kind of way.
We got to get on the grind of elevating our children’s minds/once they grow up/ain’t no rewind/without proper knowledge/how they gon ever get they self out a bind?/Knowledge is powerful/when applied/let’s be real folks/& get off pride/–we should be tired of being at the foot of civilization/we are a powerful people/when we unite & build/we ain never got to yield/dreams do come True/if we stay true to ourselves.
Storytelling is not gone forever because of tight beats & hook filled songs & reality shows.
There are some great writers putting out some great material in the form of plays, movies, monologues, podcasts, blogs, poetry, spoken word poetry, documentaries, relevant songs & raps, literary reviews, essays & many other forms.
Make sure your children & teens read a lot. Reading is powerful.
The children & teens have smart phones & tablets. Make sure they don’t just play games on them.
People call phones”Smart Phones.” I agree. They are SMART PHONES. If used in productive ways. These phones & tablets are very productive tools, if used productively.
Here are some of the things Phones & Tablets can be used to make:
* Books (Print & Ebook)
* Movies & Documentaries & other types films
* Audio Engineering
* Video Editing
* Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.)
1) Make sure your children & teens have trades. Something they can use their brains & hands to build something, invent something & manufacture something.
2) Paperback & Hardback Books in a Technology Age
There is nothing like a Paperback & Hardback Book.
Many publishers having to compete with what’s going on in the Tech World. Writers are starting to put out their own books, cutting out the Middle Man. Keeping Money in their own pockets.
Readers not spending on physical books like they used to. Many readers now reading books for cheaper on digital devices and can carry a whole library of books on a digital devices. Thus reading more.
White Screen Nooks & Kindles -vs-Color Nooks, Kindles, Ipads & Samsung Tablets for Reading
The Amazon Kindles are Great. The Ipads are Great. The Samsung Tablets are Great. The Barnes and Noble Nooks are Great. They all have Color Screens. Important for Apps & Videos Viewing.
But, if you are a Hardcore Reader, go for the Nooks & Kindles with the White Screens. The Battery Life is Much Better. Maybe 2X-3X Better. You can Read on them without Glares & in any kind of Lighting without tilting the Monitor a Certain Way to get Better Lighting. The Color Monitors are Very difficult to Read Outside in Sunlight. Many times, you have to adjust the Brightness level on Color Screens.
Overall, the White Screen Nooks & Kindles are a Better Reading Experience, Less Strain on Your Eyes & Better Battery Life.
In many ways, it is the closest we will get to Reading a Physical Book in A Digital Age.
3) Relevant Education on Many Levels
School is not enough for Youth. They must learn trades. Jobs ain’t knocking on doors. Teach them to be financially sharp too.
Find out what your child has a passion for, other than sports & entertainment.
Help develop it. Inspire them to 1 day make into a business.
What happen to Trades in School?
Without a trade, people in bad shape. We go down roads we never thought we would to survive.
Talking Intelligent don’t mean anything, if we can’t survive in a hardcore world. We must all build our toolkit of skill sets.
No money or time to go back to school. Read, study, talk to old people, become apprentice, buy Kindle/Tablet, Download Free Ebooks from Amazon, Internet, etc.
People go to College, listen to Professors lecture, read, study, & take tests. What if you don’t have money or time for College?
Inspire your Children to Love Reading by telling them good stories. Good stories inspire good questions. Read stories to them with morals, values, lessons, overcoming difficulties, strategies, analyzing. Thinking, in other words.
When we read to our children, we must not read monotone. That is boring even to a grown person. Just imagine how boring monotone reading is to children. We must read with voice inflections, excitement, rhythm. This helps keep the children’s attention.
Oral Reading is an Art form we must master to Inspire our children to Love Reading.
*—>> How to Inspire Children to Memorize Poems
Teach your children little short poems way before they start to read. It is best to have them memorize poems that rhyme. It sticks in their minds better. We must build up the children’s memories.
Later on…have them recite the poems back to you. Have them memorize a poem a week. Or a poem every two weeks. We can have them do this right after they learn a few words. It does not even matter if they only have a few words in their vocabulary. So what if they are still just baby talking.
If they learn a poem a week, that’s 52 poems a year. If they learn a poem every 2 weeks, that’s 26 poems a year. If they learn a poem a month, that’s 12 poems a year. Use your own discretion.
We must must not underestimate what our children have the capacity to learn. Our children can handle pretty much anything we work with them with.
Take Charge of Your Post, Dear Parents. Parents are the 1st Teachers.
Children have a natural inclination toward knowledge. We as adults have to make sure nothing kills that inclination. We are more powerful than we know as parents. We are the 1st teachers. We must hold on to our position with dear life. We must make everything out of a learning opportunity. Relate everything to the Real World. Throw sugarcoating out the door. We will see change in our lifetime. Reality strengthens the minds & gives clear vision. Lets be on that vibe.
Sunshine for The Minds.
Test taking skills are very important. More than 1/2 to 3/4 of standardized test is reading. Even the Math is word problems. The Social Studies, Science & Literature is top heavy with Reading also. Surface level reading is not cutting it.
Trades for our people is so very important. Jobs are not knocking on people doors. We must learn how to take things we are passionate about, & make money & provide servces for our people…the world. We have built nations before. That is in our genetic make-up. All we got to do is dig deep down in ourselves, and pull that greatness up & out of us.
Adult Education is a must. We have people that can work with adults…providing them with knowledge to help their children with homework and trades.
We drop money in the buckets at church, and hardly see returns. Why can’t we drop money in the bucket and buy land & material & we all roll up sleeves and build schools & businesses? Our pay will be in having something we can be proud of and be of a practical use to us now…while our eyes are open…heaven on earth right now.
