If you ever thought about having a solid Digital SLR & Video Camera all in one, you no longer have to worry about that.
Many New Digital SLR Cameras have Video capabilities these days. Many in HD Video. I have a Nikon Digital SLR. The D3100 wt a 18-55mm lens & a 55-200mm lens wt Video Capabilities. I am very happy with it.
I brought a Vertical Shutter Release/Battery Pack for mine. This adds Height & Weight, which add more Stability for hand held shots.
The battery pack gives me the power of adding an extra battery as well. When 1 battery goes out, the other one kicks in.
I can crop photos right in the camera once I take them, turn them to Black & White Photos, Put Duo-Tones on the photos, Control the Color Balance. There are many features to these Digital SLR Cameras today.
You can get them in Nikon, Pentax, Canon, Sony and many other brands.
My 2 great Nephews Kavan Thomas (wt Ball) & Kevis Thomas get in a Sunday Morning Workout.
Me & Best Childhood Friend Leevan Thomas, their Father had them going through various drills. It did not start out that way. Initially, we were just doing a throw around with the Football. But, within minutes, we were going all in–Running Passing routes. Well, to be real about it…Kavan & Kevis did that. Me & Leevan were the Old School Quarterbabcks & Drill Coordinators.
Neither one of us…Me or Leevan could hit our targets right on the mark initially wt the passes. The young bucks ran their perfect pass routes though.
Now, this thing was getting serious. How in the world we going to inspire them to be masters of the game and we off the mark with our passes?
After a few bad throws by both Pops Leevan Thomas & Unc, we had to get it together or we were about to look like “Dankies” like My Father/–Chief/–Coach Turner, used to call Jokers that couldn’t quite get it together in an exercise or some type of task at hand.
After a few Dankey Throws Pops & Unc got it together. We started hitting the Young Bucs right on The Mark as they ran through the Drills.
I asked Pops Leevan Thomas if Kevis, his son, the Quarterback of his Championship Pop Warner team could throw against his body. Meaning, could he run one way, and throw against his body and hit the receiver dead on the mark. Leevan said….”Keith, they don’t call him Cam Newton for Nothing…Man, that joker bad…he don’t play wit em.”
I said “Nephew, let me see what you got.”
Just like Pops said, he was the real deal.
Kevis threw against his body with perfect skill. He has a very good arm. I told him to throw me a line drive. We were about 15 yards from each other and Kevis threw a line drive alright…the darn ball stung my hands when I caught it. Oh course, I was not a receiver in High School. I played Defensive End all my years of High School Football.
Kevis & Kavan had Pops & Uncle cover them as they ran routes. I have never played cornerback, safety or linebacker. Leevan played Linebacker in High school and was real good.
I call my self going to cover Kavan. That joker did a move off the line and tied Unc feet up & I fell right on my behind. Good Lawd…that was a Ugly Sight right there.
I got my behind back on the Quaterback side of things and let the Nephews run pass routes. I had to redeem myself from that Danky behind fall when I covered Kavan.
Now, I got the rock & Kevis the Reciever. Pops & I go over A Pass Route wt Young Brother Kevis. Pops tell his son Kevis, run full speed at Kavan, stop like he is going to catch the ball wt his hands out and continue the route. Kevis ran the route wt precision like Pops said & Kavan got lost in the action, temporarily. That was all the time needed. Kevis got behind Kavan Slightly. As this was going on, the ball was in the air and Kavan was recovering from the move and tried to get up high to catch the ball, but the ball was a perfect pass by Unc and got over his fingertips and hit Kevis dead in the hands….but, he dropped it.
From that point on, my passes were on the point.
Pops and Unc teamed up on other pass routes for Young Brother Kevis to Run….It was a great matchup between the Brothers…Big Brother & Little Brother.
Great Pass Routes & Great Coverage Between The Two Brothers.
Kavan is 13 and Kevis is 11. Kavan plays Wide Receiver & Linebacker for his Middle School and Kevis Plays Quarterback & Safety for his Pop Warner Team that won the Championship this Year.

If you want your Nails to Look Real Nice Like, Hit my niece Keyana Neal Simmons up in her Facebook Inbox/–(Facebook–blue link of her name)/–or her email: Marieneal171@yahoo.com if you in the North Florida/South Georgia Area. She is A Great Artist. Has been drawing since she was a little girl.
She was drawing Micky Mouse, Donald Duck, Super Action Heroes and all since a little girl.
Oh, I can’t leave this out, jokers knew not to get in a Joking Contest with Keyana. After while, she might stop Clowning/Joking on a joker and go get her sketch pad & pencil. It was over then. They was “Gon Learn Today”…even back in the Day. It boiled down to whatever kind of weapon she wanted to fight a joker wt.
When she went to go get the Sketch Pad & Pencil, It was Over. Jokers Ran for the Border, because Keyana came out blasting on her adversaries. They always ran for cover. She was coming for the take down as soon as she started putting the pencil to the sketch pad…she was going to draw you looking real jacked up.
You still laying it down Keyana, but in a different form.
Around 2001, I remember standing on The Sidelines of A High School Game wt A Canon G-1 Digital Point & Shoot Powershot Camera wt a External Flash.
I had worked my way to the Sidelines of one of the Teams. I just walked right on the Sidelines like I belonged there.
Remember now, I said I had a Canon Powershot G-1. 2.0-2.5/F-Stop Lens. In other words, the lens was a Great Low Light Lens. The only thing was, the camera looked no where near a Pro Photographer’s Camera. But, I went on anyway. I had a lot of Confidence in my ability to shoot Sports Photography. But, I was about to learn the hard way. Sports Photography is no walk in the Park. Especially wt a Small Camera & Short Lens.
So I had to Move up & down the field as the ball moved. I did not have a lens long enough to reach way out over the field.
Mind you now, I had 2 Pentax SLR Film Cameras… they were Smoke Screens/Diversionary Tactics. I came in the Sideline Gate wt 2 SLR Bodies, one wt 35-80mm & the other wt 80-200mm. They looked pretty impressive. Many Newspaper Photographers only had 1 SLR Camera. So me coming in with 2…6 Shooters on each Shoulder like a Cowboy in a Wild West Movie helped me Out Greatly in Getting on the Sideline.
Photography, Film Photography is a very Expensive Trade…and I surely did not have the type of money to put into developing & printing the many shots I would take this night at that High School Game.
I learned a lot that night. The photos came out OK. But, there was a lot to learn on shooting Sports Photography. But, each game I got better.
I shot every week after this game.
Created a Sports Website & It became Popular wt Students & The Community. Posted Photos from the Games Week to Week.
Matter of Fact. I shot from Pop Warner to College the Rest of the Year.
By the End of the Year, I found Myself Standing on the Very Team Sideline as they Played for the State Championship in The Florida State Seminoles “Doak Campbell Stadium.”
Mid Year Coaches from Pop Warner to College were Excited about Me Being on Their Sidelines shooting their Teams.
From here, it was “On & Popping” wt Me in Photography.
I can say now “I have shot Sports from “Pop Warner to Pro”…The Atlanta Falcons, The Jacksonville Jaguars, The New Orlean Saints, Tampa Bay Bucaneers, The Arizona Cardinals, and a few other Pro Football Teams.
I have lost count of the College Football Teams I have Shot.
I have Shot Dance for Many Years & Fashion as Well.
I Love Photography, almost as Much as I do Writing & Teaching, but not quite yet.
From Still Photography, I moved on to Video & Video Editing & Making Sports Highlight Videos.
Some of the Players in the Pros Today, I shot them in High School & College & Made Highlight Videos wt them In It.
